Could it happen that we could go ftom aresenal of democracy to the aresenal of greenery? This website seems to think it is possible and Phili is doing this... Why not Detroit! We already are transforming our urban praries now its time to transform our warehouses! Forbes lists Phili as one of the 10 hottest job markets for green Jobs and I think many of these warehouses could make for ideal facilities to move towards a green economy.... If we could be a manufacturing center for midwest renewable energy of all kinds we could be come a much more diverse economy than the one industry city we currently are... http://www.treehugger.com/file s/2008/10/hottest-green-job-ma rkets.php |

Warehouses are typically not suitable for manufacturing operations. Old manufacturing facilities are typically not suitable for today's lean manufacturing operations. Detroit is full of abandoned white elephants sitting on brownfields, which require additional remediation costs before new manufacturing structures can be built on them. |
