Rid0617, yep...they're out here in Southern Cal too. I was trying to explain to a DC native @ Del Taco last week why it's pointless for an In N Out knock-off to expand into the In N Out stomping grounds, his argument is if Fatburger & Tommy's can do it-I pointed out those are beloved LOCAL institutions...hell, so is McDonald's & Carl's Jr, but 5 Guys-nobody not from DC is blown away by them-I'd rather have White Castle or Krystal's, frankly

There is a location on Greenfield between 8 and 9 mile that should be opening soon. I passed it recently and it looks like they are putting the finishing touches on it.

I don't get it. How is Five Guys an In-N-Out knockoff? I'm sure that's exactly what the founder was thinking, 3000 miles away--"How do I rip off In-N-Out Burger?" What--the lack of frozen product is an innovation patented by In-N-Out Burger? The horrors! Next thing you know, Five Guys will have a secret menu! If you must know, the founder of Five Guys used to work at Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor.

I've personally taken many "non-DC" people to Five Guys, and the response has been universally enthusiastic. I didn't realize franchising was such a crime.

White Castle? Krystal? Are you serious? I can't eat that stuff unless my BAC exceeds 0.12.

There a store in a strip mall near hall/M59 and romeo plank, that has had a "coming soon, five guys burgers" for close to a year now.

I just checked the five guys website and it shows up as coming soon, so maybe it finally is.

I've got to get by there. People here are raving how good the food is. I to prefer White Castle/Krystals.

I'll check this out when it comes- Supposedly there's going to be a Fatburger in the Studio One apartments too.

And I've never enjoyed White Castle sober.

Danindc If you must know, the founder of Five Guys used to work at Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor.

My point is provincialism or # of locations doesn't make the food better or else Domino's & Little Caesar's would top Buddy's & Sheild's, even though the Cheesecake Factory's always packed because of the fare, not the founder's 313 roots-& very few people go to Nate & Al's Deli in downtown Beverly Hills because one of 'em got their start @ Boesky's(but if I got my start @ Boesky's you better believe I'd want MY restaurant in Beverly Hills) I dunno why 5 Guys gets kudos for being more of the same just not nearly as good(& people from back East are amazed went I piont out Fatburger burgers & fries are the same as Stake & Shake-just without the fine dinnerware)

I ate at a Five Guy's Burgers and Fries in Florida last year. Good burgers, good fries,
more like a Johnny Rocket's or Fudruckers burger than anything else I can think of. TONS of fries, they put your burger and fries in the bag (which is about the size of a medium soft drink) and then throw an additional scoop of fries on top.

About a $10 meal if I remember correctly.

FatBurger is the definition of a crappy burger.
