Anyone have any good suggestions for downtown/midtown living options that are dog friendly? Is it possible to have a dog and live in downtown Detroit?

The Kales Building seems to have more dogs than people. Grand Circus Park is often busy with owners and their dogs.

Kales or Merchants Row are the best bet downtown. I searched pretty hard and they are the best with pets. Kales is great because of the park right in front.

Is it safe to let a dog out at night in Grand Circus Park? Where do people take their dogs at the Woodward lofts? I'm leaning towards renting/leasing but would consider purchasing something if the right opportunity presented itself.

Nobody let's their dog out at night in the city.

That's suburban talk, sir. Almost infra-urban.

HERE? We take ours for walks. If we can't we take them to Canine-to-Five, only a half-mile or so up Cass Avenue just south of Mack/MLK, where they can socialize with other doggies and exercise to their heart's content.

Now that is just downright cruel.

Just think of the lurking real estate agents...you tease.

If any of them have caffeine in their systems when they read your words, you might cause at least one heart palpitation to hiccup somewhere severe.

(edited to correct verb tense, had a fierce nun flashback and NEEDED fix it) (the TENSE, of course the tense, how would I fix a nun? That's just silly...)

Of course, four dozen ex-mortgage bankers just spit-laughed THEIR coffee through their noses, imaging anyone actually ABLE to score a mortgage today.

THAT'S gotta be a dangerous place for caffeine, too.

Yes, GCP is definitely safe to take your dog for a walk at night. Most buildings (rental and for-sale) in Midtown also seem dog friendly. Our condo building allows dogs and we see people walking their pooches all along the Cass Corridor at all hours. These dogs range from little toy dogs to pits. We take our pooch, a pit/german shep mix and reformed ghetto dog, for walks at all hours. We have no problems.

I live in the Park Shelton. Plenty of people taking their dogs for walks through the DIA lawn and down Kirby and Ferry streets.
