I've seen a few threads on here about this event - but a great sign in the startupweekend is coming to Detroit, specifically the Compuware World HQ. This is great news to have such things happening in the city proper. I've never done it, but have friends who did the Ann Arbor one and basically the premise is that for 54 hours you put together a startup. At the A2 one, I think people spent the night at the location. The types of people who participate in creating these online companies involve many disciplines. Developers from backend to front end; User experience; PR; Legal, Biz Dev, Project Manager and Cook :-) And yes, they create real companies (although some don't materialize - that's up to the creators to follow through). http://startupweekend.com/abou t-2/ http://startupweekend.com/star tup-weekend-detroit/ |
