Gary Brown is a millionaire, a man of leisure. Why on earth would he want the hassle of being police chief other than to lord it over Kwame and Bully Cummings? Once he got tired of that he would be stuck with a very demanding job that he probably doesn't want and certainly doesn't need. Brown will wind up on the City Council after next year's election--hopefully as President. |

As President of the Council, she may be able to control the agenda. She doesn't seem to have much respect for Robert's Rules of Order for conducting meetings, hence, the trouble she got into with the "Shrek" incident. She was the only Council member to NOT vote for the Mayors' resignation.
It'll be interesting to see if the Council starts a cascade of elections to replace the Mayor or just wait for the next Mayoral election to cycle around next year. |

She was the only Council member to NOT vote for the Mayors' resignation.
Three reasons for that:
- She liked having Kwame around because he took center stage, distracting a lot of the media's attention from her.
- She's been caught red handed by the feds taking a bribe in the Synagro deal (and maybe more) so she has to be careful not to criticize Kwame--the pot calling the kettle black.
- The Conyers have been good friends and allies with the Cheeks-Kilpatrick Crime Family for many years. |

actually some of my extended family is related to john conyers.my niece's paternal grandfather is john conyer's uncle.so i guess that makes my niece a cousin of conyers, she's seen him on family reunions. i've never been to her paternal grandparents family reunions,so i don't i've never met him.i should call my niece's granddad,and find out what he thinks of monica.lol |

From further reading, it appears Ken Cockrel Jr. has someone else in mind for police chief, rather than Gary Brown. Gary Brown on the Council sounds like a voice of reason and experience the Council needs. |

Yes, she said the city council position was part-time and that it was specified as such in the city charter. She was quickly corrected by other council members. |

In this two-part conversation with Huel Perkins, Monica Conyers came across as reasonable and subdued. She's an emotional person whose feelings are on the surface and can be very easily manipulated. She needs to exercise better self-control and she knows that. Whether or not she can keep a handle on her emotions waits to be seen. Considering the Fed investigation, her days may be numbered. |

Perkins was talking to her like she was a grade school student, explaining how she's a public official with a public life, etc, etc' like he was afraid she was gonna start crying if he treated her like an adult. And she played right into it, using the "little girl" voice and bearing. "Yes Mistow Perkins, the bad owd weporter chased me wif her micwophone..I was fwightened.."

Huel Perkins treated Conyers with kid gloves...didn't say a word to rile her, very soft spoken, non-confrontational. That was the ONLY way he'd get her to talk, very smart on Huel's part.
Maybe hubby John has some problems of his own and uses his marriage to the idiot as a front to cover up something. I couldn't think of any other reason to marry such an unstable, illiterate like Monica. |
