Never worked there, but we used to go there to "pig out" after work from Sabre Lancer, then later Cavan's; or after bar hopping in the mid to late '70s. The food was great.

12468_laing - is that your current address or an address you had in years past? I used to live just a few doors up the street.

12468 - I lived at 12500 from 1949-1968. The kville is actually Kendallville (a town about 30 miles north of Ft Wayne, IN). Were you on Laing during any of those years?

kville, i know Kendallville - been through it a couple of times on the way to see my wife's grandparents in Indy. 12500 - that is going from my house towards Moross. I know the Holm family was 12526 - pretty sure. I lived there from 1957 when i was born till 1982 when I moved here. i think i may know which house was yours - who were your bros and sisters?

I was in Kendallville last week. Quaint little town. Not right off the freeway either. You need to ride to get there.

I had work to do.

12468 - is your name Steve? You would be about that age, I figure. I'm Neil. Only had one older brother, so you might be thinking of the Jarmosevich family next door with their 6 kids. Deena & Joyce are about your age or a little older; AnnMarie is a little younger. I hung out with Phil, who I still talk to (he lives in Santa Fe). Next to them was Rossi family and then Holm family. Did you live next door to Schultz family?

Have lived in Kendallville since '82. It's not a bad town, but because of industrial ties with auto industry, same employment situation as much of Michigan. Also other big city problems on a smaller scale. Commute to Ft Wayne every day. We come to Detroit regularly - my dad and other family are still in the area and many of my wife's family is there.

kville, yes, I am steve and lived the other side from the Schultz family - we had the house with the blue awning, "where the cement met the blacktop". I can't place your last name, did you live next door to the Jarmosevich family or the Morin's?. I remember the Jarmosevich family well, spent time with the Rossi family, but those kids were younger than me, and Roy Holm was my best friend - wish I could track him down.

12468 - My last name is Bachman. We lived next door to Jarmosevich family. On other side of us was Balow's and Van Dresser's before them. They lived next door to Morin's. I don't know about any of them except Jarmosevich family. I remember your sister Linda too. Would like to get caught up - will be away for a few days. Maybe touch base with you next week again.

Yea, now I remember you. I remember when you sold out to the Prezondeck's - I know that is not spelled right. My sister is married and lives in Roseville, has 2 grown sons, and works for one of the larger lawyers in downtown Detroit. Good to meet you again. Yea, I remember the Balow's - think there was a brother named Craig who was close to my age, and as a little one, I had a "crush" on Karen Van Dresser. In fact I was looking through some old pictures the other day and saw Had to have been in the early 60's.

Gibran, did you also live on Laing? Renee & Cheryl sound familiar. The girls were much younger than I was, so didn't remember their name. Just remember that their father was a cop. I was more familiar with the Myslinski's who lived in their house before, and after they moved, I hung out with Phil Jarmosevich who lived between us & Rossi's.

12468 - you must mean Kathy Van Dresser, but Craig Balow was about your age, I'd guess. I don't know who my parents sold to because I was already gone by then.

Dominics Bell casino? It was on Mack just south of Alter. Great Italian food.
Remember Lombardis? It was where Blue Pointe is, they had the best spaghetti ever.

I used to go to Lombardis (sp)and also Dominics after dances at the Cannon Rec center. The dances were focus on Jr. High students. We would go twenty to thirty strong. I am sure the waitresses that got stuck with us would groan. I do know that even back then I knew to leave a tip. No clue if anyone else did.

As for the Clock restaurant, I had my first order breakfast there. I didn't know how to order eggs so I said eggs" sunnyside up. They came obviously under cooked. The waitress said order "order over easy" next time. I remember to this day. The Clock became an institution for me and others. We used to skip school in third hour with one of our teachers from Finney. Great breakfasts!

I can't remember if it was Dominick's or DeLorenzo's that local rocker Catfish Hodges mother was a cook. I think it was Dominick's. I can still see Dominick's face that was on the menu with a big mustache and black pompadour.

I remember Dominic's. I lived on Manistique and Mack which was 2 streets over from Alter. Also Lombardis is where my baptism luncheon was...way back when. Is Blue Pointe still open? Last time I was there was probably mid to late 80's Food was o.k.

I used to eat at The Clock regularly with my dad in the mid- to late '70s. I distinctly remember playing Steve Miller's "Jet Airliner" on the jukebox. I was probably about 8 years old. Years later, I learned that was a Paul Pena tune. If y'all aren't hip to Paul Pena, go check out "Gonna Move." It'll get ya movin', just like The Clock's day-old coffee.

Oh, and the Blue Pointe is indeed still open. Go see David Muer and try the fettucine alfredo. I used to work there in the '80s as a bus boy and broiler chef, and it's even nicer now than it was then. RIP, Eddie Tanoury!

Anybody remember a place called Cracker's Pizzeria around there? It was on East Warren near East Outer Drive in the late '70s.

Crackers was at Warren and Devonshire. They could never stay open, even though they tried with diner style, coney etc. When it was open it was decent.
