ok...so tomorrow night my wife and I are going out to celebrate our Anniversary (5). When we head downtown for dinner our usual M.O. is to head down to the Wintergarden and eat at Andiamo's, then head up to Coach for an after dinner drink with a view. today she said, "I want to try someplace new." We have done the Whitney, Seldom Blues, Sweet Georgia Browns...

Does anyone have any good suggestions for downtown were we can get dressed up and have a great dinner? we lean more toward seafood since neither of us like Steak...so great fish is a big plus....

thanks in advance!

I ate at Iridescence for my birthday and it was fabulous. They have a menu that's got some nice 'island' flavors. The view over the river and bridge is very nice, too.

Mosaic, in Greektown. Top notch.

Opus One is nice too, but I haven't been there in quite a while.

someone here at work told me Mosaic too...

I was worried it wouldnt be as upscale and we would want, or do they not get much of the casino crowd?

I'll second Mosaic, and while I haven't been to Iridescence, I've only heard good things about it and can't wait to try it.

5th anniversary (traditional) is wood. Pick a restaurant that has aheavy wood interior or somehow has a theme that has wood in it.

Maybe start early at the Woodhouse spa, a pre dinner drink at They Say (nice place) on Woodbridge then go to a restaurant where the theme fits as well. May be silly but she may enjoy the thought of incorporating the 5th anniversary gift even if it is in name only.

It's been a few months, and I was comped for my birthday, but if I remember correctly, the entire dinner came to around $120.
Seem's like the entree's were in the thirties to forties. We had soups, salads, entrees, desserts and soft beverages. I had the Seafood Bounty and my husband had the Seafood Pasta, and they were both wonderful. At the time they had an onion soup that had a great curry flavor, with coconut milk on the side, and a grapefruit, pecan, blue cheese and arugula salad that was out of this world.
The executive chef is a guy named Hightower, and he came out and spoke to us, and was very personable. He used to run on of the Hilton at Waikiki dining rooms.

That was supposed to be 'He used to run one of the Hilton Waikiki's dining rooms' not on them

it's from 5p-7p. you can arrive at any time. every week is a different theme. last week was french wines. you get about four "glasses" (more than a taste, but less than a half glass).

I second (or 8th or whatever) Quinn--Cuisine is the best restaurant within city limits. Tribute is the best in the 'burbs (yes, better than the Lark).
