The listing actually says "Detroit-Warren-Livonia." Everything but Oakland County, I guess. I've never even heard of Evansville... what a strange poll! |

Yeah, it's some southern Indiana town that was seriously hit by a tornado overnight (a few years ago). Detroit's never been hit by a tornado overnight. |

Evansville - with 122,000 people in 2000, it sits at the southern end of Indiana on the Ohio River. http://www.evansvillegov.org/ |

Yeah, clearly someone in Evansville has an awful lot of time on their hands. Shocking. Moreover, whenever you see a survey like this, you can delete your cookies and vote as many times as you want. I suspect that influences a lot of the surveys on the Detroit News's website, because if any of the Free Press forumers visit that site as well, those bitter curmudgeons have nothing but time on their hands. |

Detroit-Warren-Livonia is the name of the Metropolitan Statistical Area that includes Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St. Clair, Lapeer, and Livingston counties. The reason it is the Detroit-Warren-Livonia MSA is because those are the three largest "central cities" as defined by the Census Bureau. |

I was gonna vote but a vote for Detroit is a vote for Livonia AND Warren. No way in hell I'm gonna vote for Obama if it includes Bush and McCain too. Isn't there some way to just vote for Detroit? If Detroit wins I can just picture Livonia's mayor and Warren's Mayor bragging that they're number 1. Two suburbs win and only one city that way. No way. I was gonna vote for Grand Rapids then, second biggest city, keep it in the state, but it's tied up with Wyoming, another suburb. So I voted for Flint. A real Michigan city. |

The reason it is the Detroit-Warren-Livonia MSA is because those are the three largest "central cities" as defined by the Census Bureau." Detroit is now in 3rd with 199 votes. They must be organizing in Evansville, 1336 votes. I was down in that area once. Everyone either worked for the farms, or the big Honda plant just north of town. |

Ray - Evansville was home of the Tigers AAA team for a few years in the '70s. Some young folks may not even realize the Tigers top minor league team left Toledo for several years before returning. |

Something fishy when a town of 122k people started the poll out at over 1000 votes, and still has nearly twice of number 2. I'd say this poll has been ha><0red. |
