Will be coming home next month and I'm looking for specific places to go look at/purchase antiques. Not really looking for anything in particular, just looking for things from different periods in time as collectors items and keep sakes. Any general advice, addresses, hours of markets, etc is appreciated.

Showcase & Mantra, 2 great shops at Cass and Peterboro.

Global Gifts is near Woodward in the New Center area.

I can't remember the name of it but there is a really good multi-dealer antique mall on the I-75 service drive near the old Cass Tech high school.

Also, the Eastern Market has several antique shops.

The one near Cass tech is a great shop. The one in Eastern Market really ripped me off about a year ago. I had a really nice desk, I needed to get rid of it. He only gave me $50 for it then put a tag on it for $1100. I just didnt have time or way to store it. Fuc@#% told me their a dime a dozen and only worth 50. Ill let karma do its job on him.

That sucks Django but you should have gotten a second opinion, and definitely not have operated in good faith in that sort of situation (even if you were very happy about doing business in the City).

There has always been a small row of antique shops (it might be down to just one, now) on Mack Ave. near Three Mile Dr.

Antique Road Show is always funny at the end when they show guys who thought they had a million bucks turn out to have done the same thing.

Isn't there one called the Detroit Antique Mall on the service drive near Cass? I see it from 75 when I drive by sometimes.

I could see myself doing the same thing, Django, because I would probably operated in good faith in that situation.

At Mack and Three Mile there are actually still three antique shops. There's also one a few blocks past Cadieux around Mack-Guilford(St. Clair).

there are two placed on Michigan Ave. in Dearborn that are really nice, one I believe is called Retro and the other is Village Antiques. Retro is in East Dearborn and Village is down near Sacred Heart Church.

Weekends, I've always preferred the Royal Oak Farmers' Market. They've got some good vendors there that have a variety of things to go through.

My Dad sells at the Village Antique shop in Dearborn. I have been there a few times, it's a nice place.
