Found this at the Detroit Historical Society's website and wondered if any of you had ever been to the event ... and found it worthwhile from a holiday shopping or other standpoint? Marine Mart Grosse Pointe War Memorial Saturday, December 13 10 a.m. (9:30 a.m. for early birds) - 2 p.m. The annual Marine Mart is a flea market for Great Lakes enthusiasts. It features great holiday shopping with more than 40 exhibitors and shiploads of nautical items and treasures including the following: lighthouse prints, nautical stipple ink prints, original and acrylic prints, unique nautical gifts, hand painted Christmas ornaments with Michigan lighthouses, postcards, magazines, china, souvenirs, clocks, marine art, nautical charts, navy hats, maritime artifacts, boat items, nautical artifacts, nautical photographs, woodworking, lithographs, brochures, acrylic paintings, out-of-print Great Lakes books, ship models and much, much more. A friend of mine and I will be there selling at one of the tables. We'll be the ultra affordable spot! We already have a "Bargain box" planned which will have ship books and papers, we'll have 4x6 ship photos for just a quarter each, Lake Boat DVDs for just $5, DVDs of the final tow of the 1898 built EM Ford leaving Saginaw, and train videos from around Michigan, 8x10 ship photos, framed and unframed, for $5 or under, holiday decorations, and more.
