Didn't see anyone post this. I thought it was doomed. This is great news! And that is one helluva exhaust! Let's just hope they don't close at 5 like many of the chains of this ilk (Jimmy John's, Starbucks, etc.). http://modeldmedia.com/develop mentnews/shields14608.aspx |

"The construction delay was due to an issue with the exhaust ventilation that necessitated the installation of a 19-story shaft to the roof." Hmmmmm. That doesn't sound right at all. I've never heard of that being done for a single use tenant on the ground floor. VERY VERY ODD. It would be interesting if anyone could elaborate on why this was necessary. Red tape maybe? |

That struck me as odd, too, CP. You would think they could just go outside the first floor wall, no? Maybe the owners didn't want people messing with Kahn's handiwork? |

Right, I mean it is a reuse of an existing building, but still. Surely there is still a back side on the building. |

A 19-story shaft to the roof? How could that have been done without punching holes through floors and interfering with existing tenants' space? Or is there something like an unused elevator shaft, mail chute, or incinerator chute that was converted? |

the shaft runs on the exterior of the building. you can see it from the outside. it is likely due to some city code. |

Regardless, it's another building saved and reused. Awesome! |

The building was saved years ago. Glad life is being born on the first floor. |

Standard practice. Check out the kitchen exhaust and makeup air system on the back of Vincente's. |
