I've never been impressed with Buddy's or Pizza Papolis. Anyone have any other recommendations?

Loui's. :-)

I've never had it, but I hear nothing but good about their pizza.

I must ask, how can you not be impressed with Buddy's OR Pizzapapalis!?

Buddy's on Conant is the best out of the chain. Louies on Dequindre is my vote for the best. Crispy crust, gooey runny cheese just the right amount of pizza sauce. Yummmmmm

I should be shot for venturing out to Troy or Southfield, but Shield's plain cheese deep dish takes the cake.

It's been a couple years...anyone wanna give me a ride out there to the country? I hear the soil is amazing for farming.

Detroit Pizza Factory in Capital Park...but if you don't like Pizza Papalis, then you obviously wouldn't know a good pizza if it crawled into your ass and died, so you might as well go to Little Caesars and get a hot and ready.

...I'm sorry, that was rude.

If you're in the Berkley area, I'd really recommend Uncle Andy's. They have a VERY good Chicago style at a good price.

I'm a fan of the original Buddy's on Conant, but won't complain about The Green Lantern. Their pepperoni slices are smaller in diameter, yet more delicious. :-)

Cloverleaf on Gratiot in Roseville is #1.

Also, Uno's Chicago Style Deep dish is surprisingly good.

The Green Lantern! The last time I had that great pizza was the fall of 1983 at a going away party for my move to CA. The people in SE Michigan don't know how good they have it with pizza. You have so many great pizza places. Out here, a pan pizza has a 2" border between the pan edge and the toppings. In the Detroit area, you can get thin crust, medium crust, pan style, anything you like, and it's great. The Detroit style puts the toppings to the edge of the pan. So delicious! I miss good pizza. As they say "You don't know what you've got till it's gone, they paved paradise, and put up a parking lot."

As an eastsider who travels Gratiot very often, The Cloverleaf is in Eastpointe.

I stand corrected, Cloverleaf = Eastpointe.

As a former Detroit eastsider who travels Gratiot very often myself, I should have known better.
