How unique? The Old Miami is unique and not too pricey. My wedding reception was at the DYC. Very beautiful. I've also been to a very nice (and not too pricey) reception at the Roostertail. Good luck. |

I was at Roostertail for a wedding and you're right, very nice and classy. DYC is expensive. My daughter looked at that a couple years ago and she couldn't afford it. Are you talking right in Detroit? |

Does Chene Park allow weddings? That would be a great setting. |

How many people are you going to invite? Does the $60 include drinks or just food? What are the extras that you have to pay for? Do they supply the linens and chair covers or are they extra? Sometimes if you shoot for a Sunday or an afternoon on Saturday, you can get better deals. Do |

we are looking at 200 to 250 people. My fiance knows more of the details but it just seemed a little out of our range. It would be cool though my Mom and Dad had there reception at the DYC. |

If 60 was all inclusive, it wouldn't be terrible, but I'll bet it doesn't include bar costs. I've had two daughters get married in the last 6 years, and it's really hard to find a good deal at a nice place. My younger daughter ended up at Black River CC in Port Huron, and did a really beautiful wedding for under $8000, but she only had 80 people. My older daughter had about the same number of people, but at Cranbrook, and I think it cost about $15000. |

A couple years back, a Forumer's wedding reception was held at the MacGregor Memorial Conference Center on the Wayne State Campus. The architecture of Yamasaki combined with the outdoor sculptures and pool in the area are quite unique! Lots of photo ops nearby too! |

State Fair.... Wedding in the Coliseum between horse shows. Corn dogs and elephant ears for the reception. Ymmmm.... They might even allow a wedding party parade. |

We're going to have ours at the conservatory, with a reception at the Belle Isle Casino or possibly the Book-Cady. |

The Henry Ford has Wedding packages also. I got married there, and had a luncheon reception. The price per person ($25.00) included 2 bars and the champagne toast. That was 7 years ago though. But the setting was fabulous, and Lovett Hall fantastic. Also, I just recently went to a Tea at Historic 1st Congregational on Woodward, and they have a reception room that is fabulous also. |

unique reception site? there is little information out there on it, but next to the casino is the flynn pavilion, a glass structure designed by eero saarinen, that has been recently "restored." the inside is all beautiful wood, there's an AWESOME bar, and the south side of the building overlooks that little pond where you can rent the swan boats. if I ever get divorced and then remarried, I am going to have my reception at the flynn pavilion. |

I had mine at Masonic Temple in the Ballroom. It was great. Can handle 200 to 250 no problem. |

Depending on the number of people, what about the Dossin Great Lakes Museum (if you're already on Belle Isle?) or the Detroit Historical Museum? I've DJed a few great weddings and events at both places. |

Detroit Princess Riverboat I was at a friends wedding last year on the Princess. The views are incredible of the city. The rooms are gorgeous with the Brass Ceiling and huge dance floors. The price is comparable to most banquet facilities with the added bonus of a boat ride.. www.detroitprincess.com |

Oh, I love the idea of the Princess! You could look into renting out someones Yacht too. Many people seem to do this. Maybe ask around, or post an ad. |
