Gary brown will run for city council in 2009. he gave up on his plans for Congress and State Representative because, he wants to be in Detroit. He believes Kilpatrick will be gone by time he might become a council member. In the Free Press,

He'll probably win, everyone knows his name and he seems like a pretty stand up guy. Don't know anything about him politically, but he seems like he'll be honest. Probably has better character than most of the council as it is.

LOL Vizion. But seriously, he seems like a reasonable person, which probably more than qualifies him to be on council.

He seems to have more integrity than most of those other clowns. The only thing he didn't do was follow protocol... which is a problem when you are in certain leadership roles.

Whatever your position is,there is always some chain of command to follow- no matter how corrupt it may be. You keep climbing it until you reach someone with sense.

"But seriously, he seems like a reasonable person"

RIGHT! Which DIS-qualifies him from Council, lol.

Run, Gary! Run!

I can think of one councillor he could replace that would have me "dancing in the street".

Can't be any worse than at least half of the council.

OMG, how again is the hierarchy of power established on council...isn't it by ranking in the popular vote?!

Or seniority?

He could be really great until he's appointed Chief of Police. Unless that Dolunt fellow wants to take a stab at that job.

Who else we got within the Department to lead the fine men and women after that ten percent of the corrupt ones are extricated?

It's going to be a busy few years at the academy filling those spots...and the juggling over at the Sheriff Department, too.

Hope we can entice a few good ones back out of retirement...the ones who held on and got out as soon as they could because of the gunk in the operation.

Obviously this is a guy who joined the police force ages ago to make a difference, so it's not unrealistic that he takes it one step further by being a part of City Council. Why not?

He's got some name recognition (as opposed to Coleman Young Jr!), a perceived trust, and like Viz says- some cash on hand to run.

This would be the ultimate anti-Kwame vote so go for it!

I'd love to see him unseat certain CC members.
