This isn't a question. It is an answer to the question which was raised here before. The answer is Federal law:
This paragraph from the article on N.J. attempting to have legal sports betting: "But federal law restricts legalized sports betting to four states — Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon. Only Nevada enables betting on professional and college games. " |

Caesar's in Vegas has an awesome sports book.
I'm not much of a gambler, but when you get tired of hoofing all over the strip, it can be fun to sit there with some drinks and watch sports and make some small wagers. |

I spent six years working in a Reno sports book -- one of the well-known ones. It was the only place where I've ever seen more than $700,000 in cash at one time (and let me tell you, that much money takes up a lot of space). You learn a lot about oddsmaking and get to keep up with the sports world because that's part of your job. Lots of interesting characters around sports books, too. Hey, it got me through college. And I got a lot of good stories out of it, too. |

All the strip casinos have race and sports books, as well as many of the "locals" joints. I never could get interested in betting on the nags, but I make an occasional sports bet if it has long odds. Lions are currently 60-1 to win the XLIII Super Bowl, and I'll probably drop a ten on that. |

Having spent a lot of time in New Jersey around boxing, it was always alluded to that as long as the NJ and NYC mobs made millions on sports gambling, no casino was going to move in on the action......sounds like a Sopranos episode, but I've heard it from fairly credible people. For what it's worth. |

quote: "There is a sports book in Windsor." I've seen it discussed here, but how extensive is it? Could I bet on the CMU vs. EMU basketball game (if I wanted)? Tigers to win the AL pennant? (that would be called a 'futures' bets) Sports betting for many is more then picking the next Lions' or Wolverines' or Spartans' game. Last March when I was in Vegas I successfully picked Street Sense to win the Kentucky Derby and LSU to win the FB National Championship. I'll be in Vegas again next month (for March Madness) and will try to pick the World Series (Tigers), Kentucky Derby (War Pass), NCAA basketball championship (Kansas), etc. Very strongly doubt I could do any of this in Windsor.
