Why can't the city and county erase the back taxes and water bills owed on some of the properties they are trying to sell? |

To keep people from speculating on the properties by buying them and then sitting on them until they get foreclosed again for back taxes and unpaid water bills. Making you pay those up front gives you an incentive to do something with the property. |

In certain cases, developers at least can work out some deals. Might be hard to do for an individual home as back taxes and bills usual create a lien on the property. |

If you purchase a city owned property from the Planning and Development Dept, back taxes and water bills are usually erased. If you purchase a property from the WCPO, you generally have to pay any existing water bills. |
