I was wondering if we could get a list of Detroit new/renovation projects scheduled to complete in 2008. Something to look forward to for next year.

Should I assume that is the completion of the study, not any actual implementation.

The Ambassador Bridge Gateway project isn't due to be completed until December 2009, not May 2008. The really major work doesn't even start until the end of February.

Gsgeorge-

About 2.8 million worth if we can finally pry the millage that all of us in Wayne County have been paying for all along out of the hands of the current powers that be. For instance, the Tuskegee Airmen Museum is getting a new roof, paint job and boiler to keep the temps consistent.

The boilers are being fixed and brought up to code in the Quarter Master's shop, Commander's House and the former Indian Museum.

The walls of the fort proper are going to be re-bricked, and the cement tops or "caps on top of said walls are being repoured and replaced.

The curbs will all be restored and re-painted for a safer, more uniform appearance.

All of the buildings will have the "Wrap-a-Roof" program in place and windows will be secured and restored, including the 1848 Barracks Building.

Lots more, too, but no time. Look for more updates here in the future.

Come on down and volunteer, contact either Subvet or myself here and we can get you on the next work team for the January 5th workday. We could use all the help we could get!

urban desity hits Woodward ave with the openng of 'studio lofts, next to to Whitney restaurant in Wayney State University. Theres condos on Mack and Woodward with great ground floor retail, but 'for rent' apartments sitting on Woodward is a real first. People crowding Woodward from Hart Plaza To New Center will mark Detroits return to normality.

normalcy?

I would like to see the large empty lot south of MOCAD across from south university village turned into a development with some decent height...10 stories maybe.

Does anyone know the status of that parcel, currently a parking lot, I believe at the northeast corner of woodward and canfield?

Apbest, I believe Wayne State may own that parcel and they plan to build a similar project like the One Studio Apts. on that property.

Man that block could be my favorite downtown block. It's such a nice piece of old Detroit, and really resembles an NYC city block.

By all accounts there is nothing above Eph's, but I did see some lights on last night. Anyone know if Eph's owns the entire building and if apartments are in the works?

No I dont know, but I did run into the owner on his way out last night and he said they are planning on closing their corktown location, and focusing on downtown, at which point they may try to stay open till 8pm again.

Closing Corktown Eph's, eh? That sucks.

Any chance developers might, um, you know, stick a shovel in the ground or something with that whole Shops at Gateway Park that's been like 3 years in the offing?

Last I heard the council was busy being in the way of that developement. They needed to appoint a committee to monitor the committee that is looking into forming a committee to oversee the project.
