Does anyone have any information on this? I walked by the other night and there were a bunch of pallettes of bricks, and today there was crane that appeared to be hoisting things to the roof. |

I saw the bricks lying on the ground when I was driving down Washington last Friday but couldn't tell what they were for...I didn't see a crane but I was watching for pedestrians so I might have missed it if it was there Are you certain the crane was hoisting them onto the DW? |

I was down there earlier and at that point the crane was propped up against the side of the DW. By the looks of it, they were replacing bricks near the top, since there were areas that were missing sections of brick. If that wasn't the case, then I have no idea. |

Maybe they are repairing all the damage done by the fudgie people who have been in and out of there like rats. |

Here's a picture of how everything looked today... took them from my balcony at Trolley (soon to be called Washington Square)... I will take and post more pictures as changes at the Whitney become more noticeable...
more of today's pics in the next few posts |

the whole scene... Washington going north between Clifford and Park is all blocked off... even though coming back at 2:00 tonight some people were still cutting through driving... looking at it I have no idea where they could have gone but you know people get "creative" at 2:00 AM! Anyway here's a general view of all the equipment they have set up (and keep in mind there's money behind any piece of large equipment like this that you see!)

Also thanks for the info on the Trolley Plaza rename... Washington Square! It was overdue, what with there no longer being a trolley along that street. |

I too saw this scene last night while on my way to lafayette coney but I thought I might have been seeing things after a long night at the museum and cliff bells and disregarded it. At any rate this is very exciting, possibly KK's big announcement? |

Indeed the crane can reach the top (its a stunning sight)... I'll get a shot of that monday for sure... I've just been busy a lot and this was the best I could do... but seeing it go to the top of DW is almost freakish... anyway yeah that'll be a for sure pic on Monday... and the change in name for Trolley was not as overdue as it was that they take the old messed up Trolley signage down with the built-in birds nests ha ha... anyway they have taken the trolley plaza signs down, now I live at the building with no name... incidentally the jury is still very much out on the new management... |

thanks gs... yeah I like my place an awful lot... I may be one of only a few at trolley (the ex-trolley?) who happily re-signed their lease... I'm on the corner facing comerica and grand circus park, I can see the fox theatre blinking sign... contrary to what most people say, also, the apartments at Trolley (I MEAN WASHINGTON SQUARE! This is going to take getting used to!) are well laid out and pretty well appointed... and I've lived in many apartments due to my career... if anyone was genuinely curious I could take pictures of my apartment layout and send them along... |

I couldn't resist: Upon further review, there is "indisputable visual evidence" that a crane is there. The crane sighting is affirmed. (Message edited by emu_steve on November 25, 2007) |

I just noticed something on Model D. If you click on Loft/Condo to Buy in the Downtown Section, the David Whitney is listed. What gives? http://www.modeldmedia.com/nei ghborhoods/placestomove/Defaul t.aspx?neighborhood=/Root/neig hborhoods/downtown.aspx#Loft/% 20Condo%20To%20Buy |

Well, clicking on the link says that it's under construction. Has the Broderick Tower been a known condo project in the making? That's under construction too. |

Well, that model D link also lists 1001 Woodward and the Metropolitan Building under loft/condo to buy also. And we all know those two are DEAD. |
