Michigan OKs thoroughbred racing for Wayne County in 2008

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan's racing commissioner has given tentative approval for thoroughbred races in the Detroit area next year.

Christine White accepted the 2008 race date application submitted by Post It Stables Inc. for thoroughbred racing in Wayne County. She says the final OK depends on approval of a track.

Great Lakes Downs in Muskeegon is closing. MEC (the parent company owned by Stronach) lost too much money there.
