Business suggests ideas for state revenue sans service tax
LANSING — With efforts to repeal the state's new service tax ramping up in the Capitol, changes to another tax paid by business — the new Michigan Business Tax — are being eyed for replacement revenue.

Let's see, everybody was happy with the new Business Tax because it finally was understandable and stable, and wouldn't confuse potential companies who might locate here, so... Let's change it already!

The MBT is not simpler than the SBT (at least not appreciable so). The legislators missed a great opportunity to adopt a simple tax.

Ahem, how are they going to monitor that?

It's a stupid, Granholm bandaid. Let's get real, I'm for repealing it.

None of the professions hit by the service tax have any kind of lobby. If the guy in the bathroom at Trumpps had taken Jenny golfing, none of this would be happening.

Maybe they should have been talking to Bishop and Dillon. That plan was worked out in conference with input from both Dem. and Republican legislators who served on the conference committee.

NOt a Granholm fan but the other guy was worse. We got screwed either way last election.
