Is it worth it to throw good money after bad to drag out the whistle blower case?
Remember interest is attached to the settlement. If the city loses again, taxpayers will be hit with a bigger bill.
I guess they have to decide if moving on is better that having the city get stuck in the mud with bad publicity and possibly having the mayor's reputation sinking lower.

It depends upon whether or not the city attorneys believe that an appeal will result in a lower award.

The bigger question is, Does the City council have the power to force the Mayor and the city law department to settle? While they obviously have the ability to veto a settlement, Is forcing a settlement in their scope as defined by the city charter?
