Hey... I saw Genie's Wienie's on Groesbeck in Fraser (North of 14 Mile). I guess they did reopen. Anyone know if its the same owners? I thought they closed for good? |

Yes, they had said they might be moving out there, tho' it wasn't a sure thing when they closed on Conant. |

Here the original from last Friday. "Owned and Operated by ????-Americans". New owner can fill in the blanks.
Maybe they should have offered Halal wienies. This picture is very representative of the transformation of Conant with the arrival of Bengalis, new and old side by side. Hamtramck, what a great place, always changing, always immigrant energetic.

Owned and operated by Polish Americans Since 1950. I just know that from going to the original location so many times. They also moved the hotdog signs to the new location. |

They were only interested in serving white people apparently. God knows it's easier to pack up and leave than to reinvent your business model. What kind of cheap food could have been served along side the coneys that the immigrants would like? |

If I were concerned about pork in my food, I don't think I'd eat anything prepared in a restaurant with lots of pork on the menu. |

Bengali fast food is healthier. Weep not...Hot dogs topped with chili made from cow hearts are still widely sold in Detroit/Hamtramck. |

I'll take a deep fried, meat-packed samosa over a hot dog anyday. There are peas in it, so it's healthy. |

I'll take the Palak Paneer at Alladin Sweets, with the complementary Lentil Soup. |
