I know Football Fans (except the Lions) are bitching about it.

Then again, our Women's Football team have been the Consecutive Football Champions for sometime now.

I'm happy to have the title; in terms of winning, we have been the best for a year or two, and we've had a good amount of championships over the last decade.

I think that list is pretty bad, though. LA should not be over Boston. Dallas is overrated. Cleveland--gulp, I can't believe I'm saying this--should be higher.

We also don't have the most passionate fans, but we're probably in the top 10 if you were to rank that.

Still, it's good to be the best again.

Not as long as that old prick Ford is going to own them. You know it is about loyalty with him. But I always question. Where's the loyalty to the fans?

LOL.

Devin Scillian just said:

quote:

Can you imagine how "off the hook" this town would be if the Lions really did have a big kinda year...

"off the hook?"

Really, Devin?

Too funny.

The Detroit Demolition lost in the championship game last year (or the year before) after winning 4 or 5 of the first Women's Football League Championships.

I believe they play for the championship again this weekend or next. There was an article about 1 of there Offensive Line-women catching and holding a car thief of her teammates car for 10 minutes until the police arrived in the Free Press. She also was interviewed on TV. Big girl!

It'd be nice if they got more press about their games. I hadn't heard anything about them until the car theft.

Imo, in order to be a top contender a city needs to have ALL major sports. Cleveland cant be considered since they have no hockey team. Agree?

From today's Chicago Sun Times:

DETROIT DOES IT BEST: We're the 4; Motown is tops
Sporting News has declared Detroit No. 1.
In terms of ''Best Sports Cities.''

Not to be confused with, say, best sports cities you might want to live in.

Chicago came in No. 4 on the list, which is based on July 2006 to July 2007.

During this time, if memory serves, the Bears did reach the Super Bowl, and the Tigers did reach the World Series.

Detroit also won in 1998. Chicago was No. 1 in 2006 and 1993.

''Detroit had a great year, with several teams advancing far into the playoffs,'' Sporting News executive editor Bob Hille said. ''Although it didn't bring home a title like some cities, Detroit benefits from having a full complement of very good teams and terrific fans to cheer them on.''

Let the record show Detroit also has the Lions.

That is what they found fit to print.

Chicagoland sports maniacs are vicious against ANY other city's teams and fans, but for some reason they are especially jealous and spiteful against Detroit.

I'm sure the writer wanted to unleash a tirade, but this is what survived the editing process!

"Chicagoland sports maniacs are vicious against ANY other city's teams and fans, but for some reason they are especially jealous and spiteful against Detroit."

Maybe it has to do with the fact that we're possibly one of the most competitive Sport Cities out there.

Rbdetsport, just because they're a writer or Publisher doesn't mean they're not Assholes and it won't show.

I wonder the same thing about the people writing the NWS Forecast discussion up in Pontiac. Some are good, but others are out of their minds typing up those discussion.
