Thanks for the pics, bullet. I think you are going to have every building in the city catalogued before you are done!

Not to complain, but it would help if you could indicate the location of the shots. For instance, where is that Cooley's Lounge?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Caldogven, I refer you to 'Defunct Detroit Gas Stations’ which is now updated with the aforementioned request :-) Waz that lounge (1st photo) is on Van Dyke near Erbie. I have been in this neighborhood for the last few days, and have been taking some shots of the houses, fields, apartments, street people, bars and lounges, to name a few. I am just getting the lay of the land and I am not always sure of exact locations. But this ghettohood is south of the City Airport between Van Dyke and Gratiot and north of Harper. This is deepest darkest Detroit, and the NBA's pissing ground. The utility crews are a constant presence, as the copper wire is replaced daily. I came across a team of 'Bazooka Joe' five-0 doing a drug raid, (7th from top) which was treated like nothing out of the ordinary for the local residents. Here are some more of the 'hood':

Hey Revaldullton, I would call it a 'mobile home'.

Love that Stroh's Ice Cream sign on the wall in the 2'nd picture. And note that the graffiti artist was considerate enough not to overwrite the sign, but rather began his/her artwork just to the right of it. Har!

Waz, you will notice the old roof line of the former neighbor of this building. The advertisement was covered many years, I'm sure, till some unknown fate befell the adjoining structure, some time back. As a man with many a Stroh under the belt, I can appreciate the gesture.

Bullet

Thank you. It sure looks a lot different than it did when I worked there from 56-60!

Caldogven, can you recall the kind of gas station this was back then? There is not a clue to it today, and I think many businesses have passed through there over the years. Better yet, can you reply to this question on the DDGS thread?

That busted-up apartment building is sad.You can tell it's a well-built structure and had the neighborhood survived it would have been a cash cow for a landlord.
