This place deserves a plug. Great selection of off the beaten path movies and documentaries.Huge selection of foreign films and b-movies. Where else can you find high school; Christian youth; and drivers ed 'scare films'. There is a massive Something Weird video collection-Alice In Acidland-Ghetto freaks etc. Some must sees in the foreign category are 40s and 50s era Frederico Fellini films. Classy-well written black and whites La Strada; Ill bidone; Nights of Cabria. Check it out! |

Agreed, Thomas video is a very good video store for those who appreciate some less than mainstream films. |

Terryh I went to the Sick and Twisted fest the year they showed "The Spirit Of Christmas", which ended up turning into the show South Park. But yes, I try to go when I can, it's a fun time. |

This was the place I always went to rent videos / DVDs. Very cool indy vibe in the place and most of the employees know their sh*t about movies. I would always go straight to their hand written list of current favorites and it rarely let me down. Places like this are dying breed. Even though I have obviously found some places like this in SF, Thomas Video really sets the bar for independent video stores. |

Is their website http://www.thomasvideo.com/links.html? Anyone who would have an image of
on their website's front page has to be good. (Message edited by Jimaz on July 18, 2007) |

So they have moved from 14 mile to main in Clawson? They have been around for a long time. back in the 70's they sold vintage films in 16 and 8 mm, many great old silents and early talkies. Glad to see they are still around, serving the needs of people who can't find what they like at Lackluster video. |

Thomas Video used to be called Thomas Film Classics, owned by Denny Thomas. I was one of his first customers back in 1974. |

It's a good place for all your favorite Ghoul goods too. T-shirts, old video replays of his show, etc. |

Thomas Video is an excellent resource for anime as well, probably has more titles than even Netflix. I went there frequently while attending U of D,it was recommended to me by my VisCom Professor. -Spiff |

I like turtles! Er, uh, I mean I like Jerry Lewis movies. I read Jerry made like 65 movies but I can only find The Nutty Professor and a few he did with Dean Martin. How does Thomas Video rate on JL movies? |

Thomas Video is a real gem of a video store. There are few places that offer the variety of material as Thomas. We usually stop in about once every other week (payday) and pick out a vid or two. The staff is helpful and smart. Way cool, on the cool O' meter. |

One of the last and best of a dying breed. The only thing that recently surprised me is that they were reluctant to jump on the HDDVD/Blueray bandwagon. They were the first in the area when laserdisc and DVD started out, I wonder why the reluctance? |

It probably had to do with the format wars (HDDVD/Bluray). They probably didn't want to be stuck with a tons of DIVX discs like Circuit City had several years back. |

I like Thomas video although I don't get out that way much anymore. During the '70's they rented grainy 8-millimeter porno movies that my friend's dad used to rent. One day she pulled a film projector out of her parents' closet and gave me a "screening". At age 8 I was horrified. Then the film burned because she forgot to turn the projector's fan on. High-tech stuff in the swingin' 70's. |
