The DMC sports medicine fellowship apparently lost its accreditation to teach graduated orthopaedic residents the principles of sports medicine. It is searchable on the ACGME web page - Program 2682521065. The old article in the Free Press about the DMC and the Tigers said they are building a "sports medicine center of excellence" - these seems like a step backward. Have they started the community programs to teach adolescents how to prevent ACL injuries yet either?

Not a surprise. Although, ortho sports medicine fellowship is a pretty useless thing anyway. One in a long line of superfluous super subspecializations that make no sense at all.

Still, they are building a lot of their public image around sports medicine and were just given a new residency for teaching orthopaedics. You'd think teaching sports medicine would be a strength - regardless of what you think of sub-specialization.
