Is GTC already starting the expansion of the gaming area? I thought they were out digging new utilities in the middle of Lafayette but then a week ago they removed parts of the styrofoam-disguised-as-limesto ne parapet (looked pretty good, actually) and now are crowbarring off parts of the brick veneer. Also, and as an aside, was there any discussion over an expansion that sucks up half of Lafayette? It's going to be really dark at that corner. |

Doubt it. Lafayette continues as a one-way west-bound street west of the casino (past Beaubien). Not sure how that could remain the same if the casino bumped out at all. |

Last I heard the casino was going to expand over Lafayette. Similar to Cobo bridging Atwater, Larned and Jefferson or the Millender center bridging Larned. |

That's what I understood as well. But only the westbound lanes of Lafayette would be built over, with the column supports on the island. The eastbound lanes would be open to the sky. |

Exactly. They are building over the westbound thoroughfare, with the supports in the traffic island. I'm pretty sure the design for the casino expansion hasn't changed, so what you saw when Rossetti released the design a few years back should remain. You can't really do it wrong, it will look like the current casino. (Message edited by lmichigan on July 03, 2007) |

I'm not holding my breath when it comes to expecting good design here... |

Will the actual hotel be west of the garage or east near the freeway? |

There's a thread (may have slipped down a bit) called "Greektown Garage and Hotel" with a series of aerial photos, recently updated. |

Well that sucks. Guess I missed that message in the other thread. Essentially bye bye Lafayette. Just turn it into a casino drop off..... |
