French, have you seriously never heard of "1984" or realize why such a slogan would have such a negative effect? Perhaps, it's a cultural misunderstanding, because something very close to "we're watching you" has the exact opposite effect of trying to promote a vibrant downtown. Again, there are reasons why London doesn't promote its CCTV. You know it's there, but it's something they'd much rather you be largely oblivious to. It's said to keep crime down, but at the same time, you don't want to promote such a thing to the general populace as it would no doubt have a chilling effect on the vast majority of the public. |

Packman, even if they were, it's not something cities with these type of camera systems generally advertise to the public, especially as a selling point to bring people downtown, and for good reason. |

I always like to say: "Detroit is misunderstood," or I like to call Detroit "The Greatest City on Earth." Perhaps a BIT of an exaggeration, but come on', there are so many things one can do in Detroit that one cannot do elsewhere. Also, I think its funny that Nashville considers themselves "Music City." Detroit on the other hand should be "GOOD Music City." |

I like Tompage's "Not for Spectators". That's a good one, seriously. Some time back, I proposed the following logo and catch-phrase for Detroit revival:
I'm D-POSITIVE! ...which takes the immediate suggestion of a poor school grade or some sort of terminal illness (even the familiar stenciled demolition "D") and puts a proud spin on it. |

Bring Back SMART in 2010 by voting not just NO, but HELL NO!!!!!! Yes, It's TRUe, we can all stand up and demand the return of state fuel tax money from the Michigan Department of Transportation and the return of the large state funded buses by all going to the polls and voting NO. So, the saying for Detroit is Be SMART and protect your rights. |

"Stand up and tell 'em you're from Detroit" didn't hold. "Load up and tell 'em you're from Detroit" reinforces an already-existing negative image, but it's got legs. Sorry. Beelzebub made me do it. |
