Can anyone explain why Channel 4 decided to give away trips to Canada, of all places? I mean, given the tough times the state's in, wouldn't it be nice to promote a Michigan destination? |

I believe that the trips were donated by one of the prime sponsors for the evening festivities... the Province of Ontario. They also paid for many Ontario Tourism commercials shown throughout the broadcast. |

Besides, a lot of folks from Ontario come to Michigan to vacation. Check out any state park campsite within 100 miles of a border crossing some weekend. Least we can do is reciprocate; just watch out if you like unsweetened iced tea - they make it super-sweet in Ontario, just like down south.
I always thought one of the things we should promote about southeast Michigan is the international aspect - quick and convenient access to the amenities of two countries. |

Also Professorscott, they still use Cyclamates in their diet beverages in Canada, as does Europe. Makes one wonder what flawed tests made the USA FDA ban it to begin with, since the rest of the world was unconvinced with the dangers of it.
