It looks like harvest time around Motown: http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/100_73 85.jpg?t=1182825497 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/100_73 84.jpg?t=1182825526 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/100_73 83.jpg?t=1182825546 |

Out of curiosity, does anyone happen to know what type of grass is pictured? |

One Good Thing: just think how cool it must be around the houses in the photos - and how quiet. Cooling breezes can get through and no neighbor radios to interrupt your sleep. On the other hand, I would be really afraid if there were no houses around. |

Southwestmap, I have often wondered what it would be like to live in a house in some of the neighborhoods that I have photographed. It would be like living in a rural area except for all of the streets. I think it would be actually better than where I live now with noisy neighbors and obnoxious boom boxes. The wide open spaces have plenty of wildlife such as pheasant and dog. So if you were a good hunter there's always plenty to hunt for. Here's the same neighborhood in the winter: http://farm1.static.flickr.com /186/427249883_7f85582a46_b.jp g |

The beige house in two of those photos looks really nice. Looks like new siding, and wood stairway to the second floor. Must be newly remodelled. |

You know, with the price of corn skyrocketing why doesn't the city or state start farming the vacant land. Heck I know some areas where you put 500 acres together, and there must be at least 20,000+ acres available throughout the city. You could train some of the folks on welfare in farming and make up some of the budget shortfalls with the crops. |

Tarkus! Damn that's a good idea. I'm nominating you as candidate for Detroit's mayor. When I lived on the west side of Detroit, the areas of Ford Road and Wyoming were owned by the Ford Corporation and were planted with acres of soy beans. (It's not all developed with buildings). |
