Ok so Kroger's is not taking over stores in Detroit, Livonia and Southfield. So what are your plan B stores? I mean the store by you that you can go to and get stuff with out having to trek out to Meijer's. |

Metro Food Land on Fenkell and Grandriver. I've been going there since Farmer Jack had their first massive closing a few years ago. |

Isn't there one in Hamtramck called like "Christ's Food Store" or "Praise His Most Holy Name Food and Sundries"? Or maybe "Jumping Jesus' Cut-Rate Groceries"? |

Actually there is a Glory Supermarket on JC. Perhaps that is what you are speaking of. There is also a (I believe it's called) Imperial Supermarket I believe close to Mound behind where Carpenter ends in Hamt. I have never been there, but I get their flyers on my porch. As for Southfield area (I split my time between home in Hamtramck and family in Southfield) I will go to Save a Lot for as much as possible, but their vegetables and meat are adequate. For that, I will go to Fruitasia on 9 mile and Coolidge. For anything very specific, I will probably go to Meijer's or Super K. (Message edited by Frumoasa on June 25, 2007) |

Ferndale Foods is at 9 and Livernois--it's a Spartan store. It's a pretty good shop for Detroiters in the area. I used to live right there and would walk there for my groceries. |

Yes, Frumoasa, that's the name of it. I haven't been yet, but I've sworn off the Krown over on Lynch, so I'll be going there soon. |

"Ferndale Foods is at 9 and Livernois--it's a Spartan store. It's a pretty good shop for Detroiters in the area. I used to live right there and would walk there for my groceries." Not bad. Wish they'd clean the place up a bit though. Western Market accross the street is better for your fruits/veggies and meats. |

Western Market is a great place to hit up if you want to BBQ. They have Chicken, Feta, Spinach sausages! That meat counter is really something. |
