I'm just using this thread to ask about text only browsing. I'm on dial up, and when somebody on this forum links to the Freep or News for an article, I have to wait five minutes for the ads and flash graphics and all the garbage to load, before I can even read the story. I've looked up Linx articles, but that is a default browser, with a lot of problems. What I would like, is a quick loading site that I can bookmark, and copy and paste the link for text only viewing. Please save my sanity ! |

I'm glad I'm not the only one, Ray1936. I still use Lview for capturing images from the scanner. I think it is the same program I used back in 1994 when I was still in college. |

I use Irfanviewer. It's free and it ahs an option to resize picture by pixels or a percentage. Much quicker than Photoshop for simple resizing. http://www.irfanview.us/ |

Thanks for bumping this, Bigb23, the question of resizing pix to fit this site is a common one. |

Bigb23, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking but I'll try. In Internet Explorer, you can uncheck the box atTools>Internet Options>Advanced>Settings>Mult imedia>Show pictures That should shut off webpage graphics. I assume it wouldn't bother downloading the graphics if they weren't to be displayed. IE's View menu has a text size option. Here on this old forum software, typing\-2{this} does this \-1{this} does this \0{this} does this \1{this} does this The \2{this} code mysteriously vanished after the BANG! incident. Of course, displaying small text wouldn't speed up anything. |
